At the invitation of the\u00a0ETH Center for Law & Economics<\/a>, a group of former students of Christoph Engel<\/a>\u2014accompanied by their own early-career researchers\u2014gathered for a two-day workshop on 30\u201331 October 2026. The meeting took place at Villa Hatt, overlooking Zurich.<\/p>\n

In a familiar yet inspiring atmosphere, participants presented their current research projects. The topics ranged from issues of democracy, data protection, and patent law to machine learning and other interfaces between law, economics, and technology.<\/p>\n

The meeting continued a scholarly tradition tracing back to Ernst-Joachim Mestm\u00e4cker, the academic mentor of Christoph Engel: a tradition of intergenerational exchange among researchers shaped by a shared academic lineage.<\/p>\n
